Even though snow is still on the ground here in Michigan, spring is approaching and I couldn't be more excited! Soon the snow will melt, the grass will turn green, the days will get longer and the temperature will rise. I am so ready to get back outside and shoot some great family photography. Being outside is where I am in my element and I love photographing families in nature's best, Pure Michigan.
Nothing beats natural light. Typically anytime you choose to have outdoor portraits your session will be scheduled with me during the golden hour. This is the best time of day for photos and occurs 1 hour before the sun has fully set. Your images will come out with a nice golden tone and their will be rim light around your body. I love shooting at this time of the day and it just adds a "dreamy" affect to your photos.
You can show off more of your personality by having your photos taken outside. I love when families get together and have fun with each other. Parks are a favorite of mine and you can schedule your session anytime during the day as long as there are trees or other natural objects that can create shade. Local parks have endless possibilities of angles and posing options with benches and other elements that are already in place.
When outdoors, the location options are endless. When it comes to outdoor photography, the background is your choice. I am more than willing to meet you and your family at your favorite outdoor location.
Having photos from the outdoors will allow your family portraits to be more unique. Instead of having a solid and staged colored boring blah background, you will be able to choose a background that fits you best, perhaps standing in front of your childhood house or your new car or motorcycle that you love.
There are pros and cons to outdoor and indoor photography. No matter where you prefer to have your portraits taken, you must hire a photographer who is organized, pays attention to detail and has an understanding of portrait photography in order to have a successful session.
